Overview:

Here's a map of our route. To see it properly you'll need to click on the little square in the top right corner which will take it to full screen. It opens a new tab and you'll be able to browse round, zoom in and click on each marker to show more details:

After returning from our Norwegian cruise in early February and then staying in Alvechurch to make sure John is able to look after himself following his recent major operation we decided to get Big Ted out of storage and head off to the south coast of England.

We haven't used him for a year so a few maintenance jobs were necessary before heading off. We were delighted he started first time after so long in storage and also very pleased the solar panel on the roof had kept his batteries in a state of full charge. We replaced his leisure batteries as the originals were more than 10 years old, purified the water tanks, replaced a couple of sticky cupboard catches and headed off.

We originally thought of going to France on a skiing trip, but snow reports were poor and with industrial action in France we decided a trip in England would be more appropriate. We've only got a month's window now as we need to put one of our houses on the market in Alvechurch after the tenants move out at the end of March, so we chose the south west in late winter/early spring before the crowds descend once the weather warms up, usually from Easter. Its a very popular area in the summer and rightly so, and the numerous holiday camps indicate just how busy it normally is.

Our first stop is 7 days on a proper campsite in Dawlish, Devon, just one of many here, but we can see why. There's loads of walking, cycling, a railway and excellent pubs and restaurants.

Below is a link to the blog post we made, only one covering the whole trip. Click on the link below to read where we went, what we saw and what we did. Happy reading!
