This was our first time using Trusted House sitters and inevitably we were a little
hesitant but we really landed on our feet with Jackie and Brian. They are a lovely,
friendly and warm couple and were the perfect house sitters.
Our plans changed a bit with Covid and they were very flexible and accommodating.
They were happy to meet up before the sit so that we could run through everything
with them beforehand and then they came back after we had departed. This
allowed us to do final preparations and leave without having to worry about handing
over at the same time.
They are a very relaxed and easy going couple who take their house sitting duties
very seriously but in a confident but relaxed manner. Nellie is quite a shy cat and
we wondered if they might barely see her but within 24 hours they had won her
round and she loved them and all the attention that she got. Mr Pickles is rather
more laid back but he clearly felt very at ease and both seemed very happy with
their new "staff" to attend to their needs. Jackie kept us updated on how it was all
going with pictures and messages which was lovely and reassuring to know that
all was OK and we also had a super exchange of WhatsApp messages as the
swallows fledged - we were sorry to miss our first ever swallows nesting in our
outbuildings.
Brian did a great job on the ride on mower and they were very thorough in all the
watering so all looked in great shape on our return - despite the fact that we had
temperatures of 30c+ and also floods of rain. Quite a variation to deal with but
they coped admirably.
They were extremely helpful and accommodating over everything and when we
discovered the day we left that the deer had been using an ornamental tree in the
garden for a light snack Brian readily agreed to put up an electric fence if I had
one delivered. In the end we did not buy one but it was lovely to know that they
would be so helpful. We came back to find the house and garden just as we had
left it with everything inside and outside in fantastic shape.
We would definitely love to have Jackie and Brian house back to sit for us again
and would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone else.
